I completely forgot all about this blog and it had slipped my mind to update throughout my pregnancy, well we are in November now and my baby girl who shall be known as Pumpkin to this world of blogging is currently three months old.
Pumpkin was due on the 31st July 2017 however decided to make her appearance a day before my birthday, so August third will forever be a celebrated day in this household. Is it bad to say that I did not realize it was my birthday until I was reminded by a post from my sister on Facebook? In my defence, I had given birth the day before and had been in labour for four days.
Labour this time was such a difference from Munchkin's. With Munchkin I was induced so was already in the hospital. However, Pumpkin decided that she would make a slow then very fast descent into the world. The first day of labour wasn't too bad there was like three hours between contractions and they were not awful just a little reminder that something was happening. I spent a lot of time on an exercise ball doing many different exercises to bring labour on but Pumpkin would only come out when she decided. The day of her arrival I had been up throughout the night in pain and ended up staying downstairs as my husband was pissing me off as he managed to sleep through me being in agony. The morning of he came downstairs to me hugging my pillow and having quite severe contractions but still too far apart to go into hospital. So he went into work explained the situation put leave in for the rest of the week and then came home, the contractions were not the correct time between but I was in agony so my husband may have lied to the hospital but it was a good job that he did.
We got to the hospital and the contractions were coming along quite steadily and I may have squeezed the hubbies arms on more than one occasion and had to stop in a corridor to have a contraction whilst people stared at me (not helpful) I was then sat in the waiting room. THE WAITING ROOM. The secretary obviously got quite worried after a number of contractions that she saw me having and I think I scared a pregnant lady sat opposite but the secretary got someone to take me to me examined, I was 5cm at 11am. I was taken into my delivery room and the couldn't find me a pillow, thankfully I had my pregnancy pillow such a life saver. Pumpkin was born at 1.12. I got through it with only gas and air and had to have stitches afterwards as whilst coming out Pumpkin turned her head and caused rips. The worst part was the numbing injections did not work and therefore I could feel it all. However, I was in a peaceful bliss of being next to my husband holding my little girl and then face-timing her big sister who was in Spain with family members so that she was the first person to set eyes on her outside of the delivery room.
Thankfully after much messing around on the nurses part, I was allowed home that night and managed to have a full nights sleep in my own bed before starting a new routine of life of a mum of two, well as soon as we pick Munchkin up from her Nana's anyway.
Signing off.
Naomi.
